Our local artist was inspired by the “Honu”, the endangered green sea turtle, when he created this dramatic piece. It is said that to spot a honu while swimming is a symbol of good luck. This vase depicting the honu petroglyph was made using an ancient art technique from Japan dating back to the 16th century – it is called raku. Each piece is handmade with variations in honu petroglyph placement – no two are ever exactly the same. With a 6" x 6" x 2” koa wood base, this combination makes a perfect award. Koa wood is prized for its aesthetic value and was traditionally used for furnishings and interiors in the palaces of Hawaiian royalty. Personalization is available.
