Hawai‘i is world famous for its surf breaks like Pipeline and Waimea. Indeed, Hawai‘i is the birthplace of surfing, once the traditional sport of the ali’i or the Hawaiian royalty. To make certain “papa he’e nalu” or surfboards, the ancient Hawaiians used the beautiful koa wood, and it takes 20 to 25 years before a koa tree is of useful size for surfboard making. The material used to make this surfboard award is not only fitting but aged. The surfboard itself is smooth to the touch, decorated with a fin, and shines golden brown, as does the base which gently upholds this fine piece of wood craftsmanship. There is no finer award that can be given to that special surfer, waterman, or high-achiever in your life than this, on which you could place a plaque or simply give as is. Either way, the recipient would undoubtedly be mighty proud.
