This handmade angel ornament is one of a kind! Hand crafted in Hawaii, this 8” tall angel is wearing a tapa designed skirt. Tapa is an internationally understood term throughout the islands that use them as a large decorated sheet of cloth, made by beating the inner barks of a tree together until they are flat, and typically worn as clothing. Today, tapa is prized for its decorative value, often found hanging on walls as an art piece. Our Christmas Angel also wears a flower lei and haku – a traditional Hawaiian head lei. Haku’s are worn straight across the forehead and tied in the back of the head. The haku is very popular in Hawaii, usually worn for weddings, graduations and other special occasions. With a braided lauhala string in the back, hang this angel on your Christmas tree or anywhere you want to bring a little bit of the islands into your home at Christmas time.
