Raku pottery is an ancient art form from Japan dating back to the 16th century. During the last firing of the clay, each piece is buried with combustible materials; the metallic oxides in the glazes produces unique finishes on each pot, no two are ever exactly the same. Our local artist inspired by Hawaii's "Honu" or turtle and has painstakingly decorated this dramatic piece with the "Honu petroglyph. The turtle which if sited while swimming is considered a symbol of good luck. Please take one home as your own personal treasure from the Hawaiian waters. (#3154) |
