Each absorbent coaster is decorated with Hawaiian petroglyphs and is made from the age old technique of clay firing called raku. The term "raku" is derived from the Chinese character meaning enjoyment or ease. Our local artist has created these dramatic but practical coasters for your personal enjoyment. The images stamped on each coaster are similar to the petroglyphs recorded on stone by the ancient Hawaiian people. These images have been found in many caves throughout the Hawaiian Islands and depict particular interests in their lives. A set of four coasters are packaged in a lauhala box. Designs shown: the gourd dancer, surfer, turtle and canoe. A perfect gift for those who love Hawaii. (#2188) |
