Petroglyph stoneware, handmade in Hawaii using the ancient 16th century Japanese firing technique called raku . Each piece is hand formed in clay, placed in an outdoor kiln and fired at over 2000 f. The molten hot pieces are placed in pits with banana leaves and wood shaving that burst into flames. The varying conditions of the process produces one of a kind pieces. Each bowl is lovingly decorated with Hawaiian petroplyphs, ancient art carved in stone.
